Feb 7 Meeting Recap!

Hello everyone!

Here’s a quick recap of today’s meeting.

The theme was “Valentine’s Day”.  Toastmaster Phil shared some interesting traditions from South Korea around Valentine’s Day and the white and black days in the months that follow. Naomi gave a very thoughtful speech on “The Words We Choose”. Did you know that natural gas (which sounds safe) is composed mainly of methane (a potentially harmful gas)? The Table Topics responses were chock-full of wonderful snippets from members’ Valentine’s Day experiences such as Hal’s tradition of not one, but two(!) banana splits, Tina’s most unromantic husband, Yuki’s bittersweet memory of the chocolate cake she baked from the heart in a dorm-room toaster oven, Anne’s recollections of Valentine’s Day chocolates, Bob having proposed to his wife one minute before midnight on Valentine’s Day, and Phil, who sadly had no fond recollections of Valentine’s Day that came to mind.  We had two guests, Kevin (Palo Alto Toastmasters) and Renee (all the way from Germany), who contributed as well.  It was a lively meeting and a cheerful way to improve our speaking skills.

Our next meeting will be the speech contest on February 14th.  Hope to see you all there.
