Surprises and accolades and laughs enlivened the Awards Meeting held on June 29, 2021. Susan Swope won Toastmaster of the Year and Robbie Prohaska won the Karl Lind Award. Presenting the awards were 2019 winners Phil Cosby and Olga Fedorova who both explained the criteria for each.
Speech Contest trophies were given as well—no surprises there as the winners were announced at the contest held on February 23. The extra bonus was that the winners — Susan Swope for the International Speech Contest and Phil Cosby for the Evaluation Contest — gave the audience tips on winning styles. I suppose this was meant to get more of us to participate next year. We will see if they inspired any of our members.
Puns, a poem and table topics rounded out the meeting. All we needed was champagne!
