Hello everyone!
Today was our contest and we were treated to a very clever International Speech and Table Topics Response. Our International Speech contestant was Bob Tokheim whose speech “The Athlete’s Test and Spectator’s View” was a mix of prose and verse. During the contestant interview Bob shared that his love for poems and writing poetry started when he was in the fourth grade. Our Table Topics contestant was Lisa Wottrich who responded to the question “If you were to live your life again, tell us what, if anything you would change, or anything that you would enjoy reliving.” Lisa’s thoughtful response reflected on her past but she came to the conclusion that her past is what shaped her present, and she wouldn’t change any of it no matter how trying it may have seemed at the time.
Many thanks to our Contest Chair, Naomi Levenson, who worked very diligently to make these contests happen, our Chief Judge, Phil, who navigated the challenges of Zoom technology with breakout rooms and electronic ballots, and everyone had a role as either a timer, ballot counter, and judge and some had multiple roles.
