Hello!
Our theme today was Thanksgiving! I want to express my gratitude to SRI Organon for giving me a reason to think about different topics every week and to consider all the views that are shared during our meeting.
Bob noticed that Naomi had a new crutch word today–a do-ahh! Phil shared all the great features of the new Toastmasters International website. Who knew there were so many handy-dandy tools for us to use? Anne shared adding a strawberry to a pumpkin pie really adds to the surprise and laughter at a Thanksgiving meal. We learned that Bob’s wife is the sports fan in his family. Did you know that Thomas Jefferson chose not to have a holiday on Thanksgiving when he was President? It was President Lincoln who made it an official holiday, but the reason might surprise you. We also learned the history behind the pardoning of the turkey which is a Presidential ritual these days. And the answer to the question why the pilgrims’ pants fell off—well, it’s because they wore their buckles on their hats, of course!
