SRI Organon Toastmasters Turns 42!

SRI Organon Toastmasters celebrated its 42nd anniversary on May 10, 2022, with lunch at the Trellis Restaurant in Menlo Park. Members Phil Cosby, Naomi Levenson, Reema Mahamood, Anne Peterson (and guest), John Sleeman, and Susan Swope attended. Everyone enjoyed the good food and lively conversation.

Then it was time for presenting the awards. The Toastmaster of the Year award recognizes one member whose educational accomplishments, club service, dedication, and enthusiasm during the preceding year were exceptional. The Karl Lind Award recognizes one member who generally goes “beyond the call of duty” in helping the club and its individual members.

For only the second time in the club’s history, the same person received both awards, The winner was (drumroll, please) Reema Mahamood! Reema’s recognition was well-deserved. Besides participating in major roles during our club meetings, she competed in our club and area contests and served as Vice President of Membership, putting in a lot of thought and effort. She personally interviewed current, and recently past, members to find out what the club can do to make our meetings more compelling. Then, she implemented those suggestions, e.g., to have an in-person meeting.

SRI Organon Toastmasters is proud to have celebrated 42 years and looks forward to next year’s celebration.
