Thanksgiving Prep

Last Tuesday the theme of our meeting was “Thanksgiving Prep”. Thanksgiving is the biggest holiday in USA after Christmas, and today we have travel restrictions again because of COVID-19. Phil Cosby (our Toastmaster of the meeting) was wandering during the last days “what he was going to do during the holidays”. So, he suggested to share ideas among our club members about planning for the Thanksgiving.
The word of the meeting was diligent.

We had one speaker – Naomi Levenson. She delivered the speech “There, There” (Presentation Mastery, Level 2, Project #1 Communication Style). “It was emotional journey, diligent self-analysis and engagement speech” – in such a way John Sleeman summarized his impression while evaluating the speech.

The big (or huge or important) part of our meeting was Table Topics lead by Ky-Van Lee. She asked each attendee (including our guest) if we have something special about the upcoming Thanksgiving or had something memorial about past Thanksgivings. We’ve heard about Turkey in Hawaiian style baked in banana leaves, turkey prepared in other styles, family and friends’ reunions, traveling. This year is going to be different – small gatherings, Zoom meetings with possibility of food ingredients and wine delivery for these parties, playing bridge, or maybe skiing in Tahoe if weather and COVID-19 restrictions permits.
In Table Topics we had a tie between Aldora Lee and Phil Cosby.

Mickie Winkler presented the thought of the day from “Romance of the Three Kingdoms” (historical novel) – “The empire, long divided, must unite; long united, must divide. Thus it has ever been.”

I hope that despite of all restrictions this year you will still have time for  a good Thanksgiving Holiday!
