Opening the Door to Opportunity

Opening the Door to Opportunity was last week’s meeting theme, and it generated some interesting food for thought. That is, how do we tune ourselves to recognize opportunity when it does knock on our door?  How do we know if we actually should open the door?  John pointed out that not all opportunities are worth pursuing, and that you might want to pass on that one to purchase snake oil from a sleazy salesperson.

We also acknowledged that some opportunities are fleeting and that if you don’t take advantage of them, they will be gone forever.  But others, like the persistent salesperson, may present themselves over and over.  I realized this the other day when puttering around the house I found myself pushing this one box around from one side of the room to the other. Then it dawned on me —this was my opportunity to actually unpack it!  So I did, and look what I found:  Toastmasters plaques dating back to 1993!

Toastmaster Plaques
Serendipitous Find

Sometimes opportunity knocks loudly.  Other times, it taps quietly.  Listen for both.  You never know what you might find.

Toastmasters offers tons of opportunity for personal growth and professional development.  Just open the door!
